Group Exercise
About Group Exercise
Adaptive Group Exercise is a traveling group exercise program available to ABA centers, gyms, schools, and other programs. Our classes are designed to introduce and support athletes with special needs through a wide range of different exercises. Our instructors utilize a number of supportive strategies to get each individual participating in the class. Classes are fun, engaging, beneficial, and safe for all participants regardless of their exercise experience.

Adaptive Group Exercise is similar to a traditional group fitness class, but modified to support children with a wide range of abilities on the spectrum. The class uses visual supports, modified language and physical prompting in order to get the best performance from each participant. Each class is highly structured, broken into 4 phases, lasting 45 minutes in total.
We start with a warm up to prepare the body for exercise. After, each child stands on a spot marker, while we work together to learn functional exercises, in the group instruction phase. Then children take turns in a variety of fun, exercise-based activities, like obstacle courses or medicine ball throws. Lastly, the class ends with a series of stretches, in our cool down.
Similar to a social skills group, Adaptive Group Exercise is structured to get children interacting. The classes are fun, safe, and beneficial for all participants. Contact us to learn about bringing Adaptive Group Exercise to your program.
The programming is centered around functional movement training. Movements that will benefit each athlete not just in the realm of fitness, but in their everyday lives. Whether they are reaching up high to get something from the cabinet, carrying a heavy backpack or walking up stairs. Functional movement training prepares the body for optimal performance in activities of daily living.
